HISTORY OF BANARASI SILK SAREES

 

Banarasi silk sarees originate in Banaras. Mughals introduced banarasi saree making to Varanasi with their intricate weaving and design craftsmanship. Traditionally, Pure banarasi sarees take up to 15 days to 6 months to get completed. The saree was adorned by the royal families during the Mughal period. Their luxurious silk saree with alluring zari work and embroidery became the symbol of royalty and gained huge popularity for weddings and festivals.
